Mikaela Cassidy

Briefly describe your experience and education:

In 2010, I graduated from Boston University with a BA in psychology. I then worked at a school for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders in Natick, MA for six years. During this time, I was introduced to the world of speech therapy and the importance of being able to communicate! I registered for night classes and quickly earned my speech language pathologist assistant (SLPA) license. I started working extra hours at a private practice which concentrated in social cognitive development. The more classes I took and the more I immersed myself in the field, the more I became fascinated with the diversity of the speech-language pathology field. During graduate school at Northeastern University, I had an internship at Miracle Farm Speech Therapy (MFST). I fell in love with the atmosphere of the practice, as well as with the children and their families. After earning my master’s degree in the spring of 2018, I started working at MFST, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience here!

Why do you love speech therapy?

I love working with children and helping them to better communicate and socialize. Speech therapy is a lot of fun because despite having the same diagnosis, no two clients are ever the same! Each child brings his/her own personality and experience to the therapy sessions which makes the profession interesting, engaging, and constantly changing.

What are your passions outside of work?

I love going to the beach, skiing, hiking, camping, running, cooking, gardening, and spending time with friends and family. I also love relaxing on the couch!

What are three words someone would use to describe you?

Positive, Personable, Caring.

If you could be any animal what would it be?

I would love to be a dog because they are always happy.

What is your guilty pleasure?

I absolutely love Kettle Cooked Jalapeno potato chips.
