Audrey Zelano

Briefly describe your experience and education:
I recently graduated from Emerson College with my M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Shadowing Ashley at Miracle Farm helped me decide to pursue a career in speech-language pathology. I majored in elementary education and applied psychology and human development with a concentration in English as a Second Language at Boston College. I was drawn to the SLP field because I wanted to be able to individualize therapy and partner with families. My placements spanned private practice, school, and hospital settings. I speak Spanish and have had opportunities to conduct bilingual evaluations and treatment.

Why do you love speech therapy?
I enjoy the child- and family-centered nature of speech therapy and growing skills through play. It is an honor to be a part of how a child connects with the world. I also love the creativity of incorporating meaningful and motivating activities.

What are your passions outside of work?
I love spending time in nature with my husband and our rescue beagle Blue. I will also find any opportunity to dance.

What are three words someone would use to describe you?
Compassionate, curious, cheerful

If you could be any animal what would it be?
An otter because of their playful nature and life on the water.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Ice cream and chai lattes!
