Looking for an enriching group for your toddler or preschooler for the summer? Introducing Speech and Teach. This is a new program being offered in our Rowley office location.
What is Speech and Teach? This is a small play group being directed by one of our SLP’s and an experienced and talented elementary school teacher. It will be offered 2 mornings a week for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Each week we will focus on a fun summer theme. There will be 4-5 children in each group. We are hoping to offer this program with a “camp” feel and hope to offer outside time, as well. While we will work on many goals, the focus will be on having fun with peers!
What are the Goals of Speech and Teach?
For Toddlers (ages 2 ½ -3) Speech and Teach will work on:
-engaging with peers in a small group setting
-practicing functional play skills
-concept development
-sensory and motor skills
-introduction and practice with songs, finger plays, and sign language
-introduction to circle time, snack time, crafts, routine
-exposure to literature and literature related activities
-articulation, language, and overall communication
For our Preschool Groups (ages 3-5), Speech and Teach will work on:
-engaging in reciprocal play
-school readiness
-problem solving
-social language skills
-participating and attending to circle time games, music, and questions
-guided activities to stimulate interest in science, concepts, theme vocabulary
-introduction to pre-reading, writing, literacy, and sign language
-practice with following directions and sequencing
-phonemic awareness, articulation, language
General Schedule:
We will keep to a general schedule each day. We are hoping to secure some outside areas for play and if the weather is nice, we will hold some or all of the sessions outside.
Toddler Speech and Teach: 8:30-10:15
8:30-8:55- Centers with guidance from teacher and SLP
8:55-9:15- Circle Time/Songs/Movement
9:15-9:25- Craft
9:25-9:30- Wash hands
9:30-9:50- Snack and Books
9:50-10:05- Group Activity
10:05-10:15- Wrap-up (bubbles, parachute, good-bye song)
Preschool Speech and Teach: 10:30-12:15
10:30-10:55- Guided Centers working on goals
10:55-11:20- Circle Time
11:20-11:25- Wash hands
11:25-11:45- Snack and Books
11:45-12:00- Group Activity/Movement
12:00-12:15- Wrap Up, Good Bye Circle and Review of the day
-You can choose to do a M/W or T/TH session.
-Speech and Teach will run from Monday, July 3rd– Thursday, August 3rd. (A total of 5 weeks and we will have session on 4th of July).
-The cost of each day of Speech and Teach is the same cost as one therapy session ($105). If you would like us to bill your insurance for this therapy service, we will need to get prior authorization.
